A free, open source software released under GNU General Public License, Coppermine Photo Gallery is a photo-gallery web application with multimedia capabilities. Coppermine Photo Gallery requires PHP, MySQL, and ImageMagick or the GD Graphics Library, and works with most web server software such as Apache.

A multi-purpose fully-featured and integrated web picture gallery, Coppermine Photo Gallery is written in PHP using GD or ImageMagick as image library with a MySQL backend. A free software, Coppermine Photo Gallery encourages its users to make modifications to enhance the functionality of the software.

Users of Coppermine Photo Gallery are required to advertise their use of the Coppermine software and provide a link to the project's web site. And also the users are not supposed to ask to remove this advertising as per GPL, discussed in the Coppermine support forum in 2003–2004.
